Position:           Anticipated Title I Instructional Paraprofessional

Hours:              5.95 hours per day, Monday through Friday with 30-minute duty free lunch

JOB SUMMARY:  Under the general direction of the principal, in cooperation with the teachers, performs the necessary duties to assist in assigned instructional areas to meet the individual needs of students.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Adheres to daily schedule and assignments given by administrators and/or teachers
  2. Interacts with students, encourages their performance, observes progress and meets instructional needs as they arise
  3. Works with elementary students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills
  4. Shares observations of students with the classroom teacher
  5. When appropriate, participates in staff meetings, conferences, and trainings
  6. Assists in the preparation of materials as directed
  7. Obtains supplies and necessary equipment for student activities
  8. Maintain necessary records, including data collection
  9. Helps build confidence in students through one-on-one and small group interactions
  10. Follows accepted principles, practices, rules and regulations of the West Branch Area School District
  11. Assists with student assignment as directed
  12. Completes minimal clerical work as pertains to instructional programming and as directed by the elementary principal
  13. Follows all teacher directives as to how students are instructed
  14. Maintains positive relationships and demonstrates respect to staff and students of the West Branch ASD
  15. Maintains confidentiality of assignments, school records, students’ performance, and all school related information
  16. Assists with tutoring and PSSA preparation
  17. Recognizes the professional knowledge of administrators and teachers and supports their educational decisions regarding students and/or curriculum
  18. Any duties as assigned by the building principal/supervisor

 QUALIFICATIONS:  2 YEARS OF HIGHER EDUCATION, ASSOCIATES DEGREE, OR HIGHLY QUALIFIED STATUS ACCORDING TO THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. Willingness to work with children in a specialized program. Strong interpersonal skills required with knowledge of basic math, English, punctuation, and spelling are necessary. Routine record keeping. Ability to exercise good judgment, use discretion, work independently, and maintain confidentiality. Interact positively with students, parents, and staff members. Organize, supervise, and instruct students in a variety of activities related to a specialized program. Speak, read, and write clearly and distinctly. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Demonstrate genuine empathy for children.  Balancing, stooping, twisting, and crouching in repetitive motions, along with reaching with extended hands and arms in repetitive motion. Walking at moderate pace, able to lift twenty (20) pounds to a vertical height of thirty-six (36) inches. Required to use hands and fingers to pick, pinch, seize, hold, grasp, and to feel. Able to communicate verbally and to have no more than a forty (40) decibel hearing loss. Vision clarity requirements are far, near and mid-range (less than twenty (20) inches and over twenty (20) feet) along with depth perception, visual quality, ability to identify colors and field of vision. Work is internal office-type environment with some levels of noise.

Positions:        Personal Care Paraprofessional: Assignment – accompany student to Bridge Program at

                         Centre Hall Elementary/Penns Valley School District                        

Hours:              8 Hours per day, Monday thru Friday full-time position with benefits for the duration of the student’s placement with the Bridge

                         Program (Transportation is available upon request.)

JOB SUMMARY: Serve as paraprofessional to assist Bridge Program student with various tasks they need to accomplish as part of their learning environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists the student with academic problems as directed by teacher.
  2. Assists the student with any physical needs after they have entered the school building and until they leave, such as dressing and undressing, fire drills, eating, wheelchair mobility, etc.
  3. Reads to the student, listens to student read and participate in other skill building communication exercises.
  4. Works with the student to reinforce material already learned or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  5. Assists the student with related health service and toileting and accompany students on field trips. May need to lift students on regular basis.
  6. Assists the teacher in dealing with the individual student’s academic progress and related social problems as they relate to the instructional program.
  7. Communicates in writing to parents, if requested, on the subject matter covered.
  8. Will assist the child with physical exercises when requested by physical or occupational therapists.
  9. Performs other duties as requested by the principal.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be 20 years of age or older. High school graduate, proficient in English and math. Balancing, stooping, twisting, and crouching in repetitive motions along with reaching with extended hands and arms in repetitive motion. Walking at moderate pace, able to life fifty (50) pounds to a vertical height of thirty (30) inches. Required to use hands and fingers to pick, pinch, seize, hold and grasp to feel. Able to communicate verbally and to have no more than a forty (40) decibel hearing loss. Vision clarity requirements are far, near and mid-range (less than twenty (20) inches over and twenty (20) feet) along with depth perception, visual quality, ability to identify colors and field of vision. Work is internal office-type environment, some levels of noise, with ability to exert pounds of force. May be required to assist student with orthopedic devices. When needed, aide is responsible for making sure physically disabled student is safely removed from or placed in appropriate seat and transported to and from classroom. Must be aware of student medication and possible reactions and any allergies.

 JOB SUMMARY:  Serves to assist teachers with various duties requiring working with children and performing various clerical duties.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Facilitate small group instruction under the direction of the teacher
  2. Assist individual students with readiness/academic activities as directed.
  3. Prepares instructional materials.
  4. Distributes and collects materials and papers used by students for instructional purposes.
  5. Assists the teacher in dealing with individual student’s academic and social problems as they relate to the instructional program.
  6. Works closely with the teacher in maintaining established standards of proper student behavior.
  7. Assists with student assessments.
  8. Assists teachers in preparing progress reports.
  9. May be required to escort students, in HALL to classes, ect., and accompany students on field trips.
  10. Monitor/assist students in the restrooms and cafeteria as needed.
  11. Work in regular classrooms with inclusion students.
  12. May be required to tutor small groups of students under teacher direction.
  13. Performs other job related duties as directed by the teacher or supervisor.

 QUALIFICATIONS: 

Must hold one of the following certifications:

  • CDA Certification for Preschool
  • 2 years of Post-Secondary Education (Associates Degree)
  • Two years of post-secondary education (minimum of 60 credits)

The West Branch Area School District has an opening for a school psychologist. The successful candidate will be responsible for psychoeducational evaluation to identify exceptional children based on Pennsylvania Chapter 14 and 16-education law. Collaborate with school, family, and community stakeholders. Recommend modifications and accommodations through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)/Child Study or evaluative process to meet students’ educational programming needs. Serve as an advocate for children and families to help all students learn and succeed. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete evaluations to determine students’ eligibility for services based on Pennsylvania educational law (Chapters 14, 15, and/or 16) after parent permission is granted.
  • Serve as chairperson of the district Multidisciplinary Evaluation teams (MDE) and serve as a member of the district IEP teams on an as-needed basis.
  • Participate in the reevaluation process as needed as specified in the Special Education Standards and Regulations (Chapters 342, 14, 15, and 16).
  • Provide counseling, behavioral services, and consultation to teachers for children who are referred to the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)/Child Study, or who are identified as needing such services through the evaluation process on an as-needed basis.
  • Serve as a consultant regarding the educational progress of both whole classrooms and individual children.
  • Develop a working knowledge of Chapters 342, 14, 15, and 16 as they relate to the referral, evaluation, and placement of exceptional children.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all educational options available for children in the West Branch Area School District, including programs through the Intermediate Unit and other agencies.
  • Communicate with professionals, parents, and community agency personnel regarding the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)/Child Study, the evaluation process, individualized education programs, section 504 plans, and other educational and/or social-emotional service planning on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintain an awareness of all revisions and updates regarding forms and procedures related to the evaluative and the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)/Child Study process.
  • Consult with classroom teachers regarding classroom management and individual behavioral strategies that can be used to benefit all students.
  • Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 problem-solving meetings through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)/Child Study process.
  • Monitor the procedures for students referred for special education evaluations in the district, noting times, personnel responsibilities for data, information, etc.
  • Observe children in the school environment if deemed appropriate to identify personality, social, and learning factors that affect the child.
  • Serve on committees when appropriate regarding school and district initiatives; i.e., PBIS, prevention of retention, grants, planning schedules in a multi-tiered system of support framework, etc.
  • Maintain school psychologist certification by participating in training that is relevant to the position.
  • Perform other such duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or Special Education Supervisor.

Education/Requirements:

  • School Psychologist Certificate for Pennsylvania.
  • Master’s Degree in School Psychology.
  • Advanced professional training in child and adolescent development, counseling, learning theory, academic and behavioral interventions, consultation, and assessment.
