The special meeting of the West Branch Area School District Board of Directors was held in the high school library on March 5, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.

 

Members present: Tim Eyerly, Tom Veres, Donald Yontosh, Larry Allen, Gerald Coble, Joseph Kovalcin, Mary Ann Couteret.  Members absent:  Ronald Mollura (illness), Larry Cowder

 

Others present:  Dr. Patrick Lukasavich, Wendy Fernburg, Sean Wechtenhiser, Paul Carr, Miriam Ennis, Annie Lynn, Jeff Eyet, Allison Koleno, Lynn Brewer

 

A discussion was held on seeking proposals for food service management in the district.  Mary Ann Couteret is concerned that if the cafeteria were making money then why would the district hire a firm that would possibly use up all of the profits when we could possibly hire someone part-time in-house.  Don Yontosh is concerned that there is no one in charge and if anything would happen no one would be responsible.  The food service would be responsible for overseeing the kitchen, menus, payments on line, ordering food and carbohydrate counts.  Tim Eyerly reiterated that this motion was just to get proposals so that options could be reviewed.

 

Don Yontosh motioned, Tim Eyerly seconded, to approve seeking proposals from firms interested in providing food service management services in West Branch Area School District.  Individual voice roll call:  Tom Veres – yes; Mary Ann Couteret – yes

Don Yontosh – yes; Larry Allen – yes; Joe Kovalcin – yes; Jerry Coble – no; Tim Eyerly – yes.  6 yes, 1 no.  Motion carried.

 

Don Yontosh motioned, Larry Allen seconded, to use Easter Monday as a snow make-up day.  Motion carried.

 

Larry Allen asked if the report cards would be ready for the students to be handed out the last student day.  Sean Wechtenhiser will discuss this with the guidance counselors. 

 

Mary Ann Couteret motioned, Larry Allen seconded, to pay James Daniel and Associates $2,000 for one-third of the work that has been done on the strategic plan.  Motion carried.

 

An executive session will be held following the meeting for Personnel and Contractual.

 

Don Yontosh motioned, Mary Ann Couteret seconded, to adjourn at 7:30 p.m.
