Position:                     Anticipated High School Science Teacher                                   

Positions Available:  2024-2025 School Year

  1. Comply with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Code of Professional Practice and Conduct for Educators (Title 22, Part XIV, Chapter 235).
  2. Responsible for the implementation of the West Branch Area School District curriculum for students assigned to the teacher’s classroom.
  3. Responsible for adhering to each approved IEP (Individual Education Program) or 504 Plan for students assigned to the teacher’s classroom.
  4. Meet students’ academic needs through a design of individualized, small group, or large group instruction.
  5. Ability to design and schedule lessons, activities, and learning experiences within an instructional day that meet requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the West Branch Area School District.
  6. Development and adaptation of materials and teaching strategies to individual student’s needs.
  7. Data collection and assessment of students using curriculum-based assessment.
  8. Evaluate the progress of students assigned and to provide reports to parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators as required.
  9. Collaborate with teachers who deliver specialized instruction (e.g. Special Education, Fine Arts, Technology, Physical Education, etc.) on a consistent basis regarding student progress.
  10. Prepare, in advance, written lesson plans reflecting daily goals, objectives, assessments, and appropriate Pennsylvania State Academic Standards to be met.
  11. Have lesson plans and required materials available to substitute teachers during absences.
  12. Maintain an environment conducive to the students’ social and emotional growth as well as academic achievement.
  13. Maintain effective control and authority of all students within the classroom.
  14. Appropriately responds to student issues/concerns that arise within the classroom including acting as first level disciplinarian.
  15. Maintain regular contact with students’ parents/guardians via phone, email, or written correspondence regarding student progress or concern.
  16. Direct activities of paraprofessionals when necessary.
  17. Participate in professional activities such as field trips, Open House, parent conferences, IEP/social services meetings, committees etc.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned by the High School Principal or Superintendent

Qualifications:  All 7-12 Grade Science Certifications will be considered. Must be computer literate. Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with others, including extensive experience in collaborating with students, parents, professional staff, and community. Work is an internal classroom environment with some levels of noise. Position requires sitting, standing, walking, and moving about the school buildings as well as use of hands and fingers to pick, pinch, seize, hold, and grasp, and to feel. Must be able to hear (40 decibel loss maximum), verbally communicate, and see with acuity of twenty (20) inches or less and far acuity of twenty (20) feet or more with depth perception, accommodation, and field of vision. Performs a variety of duties; able to make judgments and work under varying levels of stress. Subject to inside environmental conditions.

Position:         Anticipated Part-Time Special Education Classroom Paraprofessionals

                        2024-2025 Assignment – Elementary School (2 Positions)

 Hours:             5.95 Hours per day, Monday through Friday with 30-minute duty free lunch

 JOB SUMMARY:  Serves as aide to assist teachers with various duties requiring working with children and performing various clerical duties.

 PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists small groups and individual students with academic problems in special situations such as tutoring or verbally reading a test to the student.
  2. Types and duplicates materials such as tests, worksheets, and other instructional material.
  3. Distributes and collects materials and papers used by students for instructional purposes.
  4. Assists the teacher in dealing with individual student’s academic and social problems as they relate to the instructional program.
  5. Works closely with the teacher in maintaining established standards of proper student behavior.
  6. Reads to students, listens to students read and reinforces learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  7. Assists in the preparation of classroom and bulletin board displays.
  8. Assists teachers in correcting and scoring standardized tests.
  9. Assists teachers in preparing report cards / progress reports.
  10. Assists teachers with audio-visual materials.
  11. May be required to escort students, in HALL to classes, etc.., and accompany students on field trips.
  12. Work in regular classrooms with inclusion students.
  13. Assist students in getting classroom notes.
  14. Assist in adapting and giving tests.
  15. May be required to tutor small groups of students under teacher direction.
  16. Performs other job-related duties as directed by the teacher or supervisor.

 QUALIFICATIONS:  2 YEARS OF HIGHER EDUCATION, ASSOCIATE DEGREE, OR HIGHLY QUIALIFIED STATUS ACCORDING TO THE PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION. Balancing, stooping, twisting, and crouching in repetitive motions along with reaching with extended hands and arms in repetitive motion. Walking at moderate pace, able to lift fifty (50) pounds to a vertical height of thirty (30) inches. Required to use hands and fingers to pick, pinch, seize, hold, and grasp to feel. Able to communicate verbally and to have no more than a forty (40) decibel hearing loss. Vision clarity requirements are far, near and mid-range (less than twenty (20) inches over and twenty (20) feet) along with depth perception, visual quality, ability to identify colors and field of vision. Work is an internal office-type environment, with some levels of noise, with the ability to exert pounds of force. May be required to assist students with orthopedic devices. When needed, aide is responsible for making sure physically disabled student is safely removed from or placed in appropriate seat and transported to and from classroom. Must be aware of student medication and possible reactions and any allergies.

JOB SUMMARY: Serves as an aide to assist an individual student with various tasks they need to accomplish as part of their learning environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the student with any physical needs after they have entered the school building and until they leave, such as dressing and undressing, fire drills, eating, wheelchair mobility, etc.
  • Reads to the student, listens to student read and participates in other skill building communication exercises.
  • Works with the student to reinforce material already learned or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists the student with related health service and toileting and accompany students on field trips. May need to lift students on regular basis.
  • Assists the teacher in dealing with the individual student’s academic progress and related social problems as they relate to the instructional program.
  • Communicates in writing to parents, only if requested by teacher.
  • Will assist the child with physical exercises when requested by physical or occupational therapists.
  • Performs other duties as requested by the teacher and/or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be 20 years of age or older. High school graduate, proficient in English and math.
