    At least six times each academic year, Saturday programs are held at the University Park campus of Penn State. All Upward Bound Students are provided with transportation from their hometowns to the Penn State campus. No one should drive a vehicle or ride with anyone else to the Saturday programs without prior permission from the Upward Bound director.

    Saturday programs are an extremely vital part of Upward Bound. Students may be excused from Saturday programs if they are participating in a school-related activity and notify the Upward Bound director in advance. If students are ill on the morning of the Saturday program , they should have their parent or guardian contact the Upward bound office at 1-800-475-4039 before 5p.m. on the afternoon of the scheduled Saturday program.

The Upward Bound Agenda

Most students look forward to the Saturday meeting because the program always offers fun and diverse experiences such as plays and football games. The meetings also consist of academic seminars to help better prepare and challenge the students. Their are many different events planned for each Saturday program including:

* Career Speakers

* Leadership Development Activities

* "Icebreakers"

* Tutoring

* Study Skills Workshops

* Recreational Opportunities

* Educational Activities

* Recreational Events
