Expectations
Educationally, I believe in setting high expectations for students and I expect that students will make their best effort to meet those expectations. I want students to leave my room feeling empowered and confident in their knowledge, abilities, and learning technique. I live under no illusion that students will recall every fact that I’ve offered, but I do expect them to know how and where to obtain answers and information. I expect the students to work well independently as well as in group settings and to have character to not lose composure at the prospect of learning a new idea.
Behaviorally, I expect that a student conduct himself in a manner that does not disrupt anyone. There is zero tolerance in my room for behaviors that negatively affect others or the atmosphere of learning within my room. I expect an appropriate level of maturity from students. Students will be given liberties appropriate for their age until they demonstrate the inability to handle such liberty.
Parent expectations are basic; I expect that we work as a team to help your child progress. I am not alone in this endeavor and neither are you. We will work to reinforce expectations and behaviors that we want. We will experience success together and we will work together to avoid failures.
What to expect from me: I will always to my very best with your student. I will treat them with dignity and respect at all times. I will be constructively critical if the situation merits it. Your student will receive continual feedback from me in all areas. They will be put in charge of many aspects of their education (always under my supervision). I will see that they are safe physically and emotionally while under my watch. I will be open to contact from parents or family members at any time about any concern. I will try to empower your student to become independent, self-sustained, and successful in all areas.
